Boyhood Treasures is not just a painting that is composed of things. To me, it is a painting of memories, of forgotten feelings and emotions, a self-portrait of my youth and a part of my life gone by. The old baseball glove and ball, once used and enjoyed, are in reality the happiness of winning and the sorrow of losing. The toy blocks, the rusty pocket knife, the marbles, the top and the old yo-yo all remind me of old friends and the hours of joy and freedom that we spent together. – Jim Daly
