August Still Life

I love sunflowers. They are large, bright and so full of life. Here they bloom in the wild around late July, but mainly in August, amid the hazy summer sun and drone of cicadas in the fallow fields and along fence lines. Cider apples are also ready for picking. These apples came from my uncle’s orchard.
